History of the Great War - Thiepval Museum

In June 2016, the Historial de la Grande Guerre unveiled its second museum, located at the foot of the Franco-British Thiepval Memorial, as an extension of the existing visitor center, opened in 2004.

A true complement to a visit to the Péronne site, the Thiepval site museum is dedicated to the Battles of the Somme, particularly that of 1916. It is more focused on memory and reflection.

The tour, divided into seven areas, offers a unique visitor experience that is both rich in information and charged with emotion. The permanent exhibition, covering approximately 400m², brings together collection pieces, archaeological objects, multimedia tools, and a life-size installation (a replica of Georges Guynemer's plane). The large fresco (60 meters long) designed by Joe Sacco opens a visual window onto the battlefield of July 1, 1916.

Its creative museography combines contemporary representation, archaeological and collection objects, life-size installations, and educational multimedia materials.

It encourages visitor immersion in the alternating displays.
