Le Musée de Picardie

The Picardy Museum has just been completely restored. It is the first museum built in France specifically to house works of art.

This prototype museum, built in 1867 under Napoleon III, subsequently inspired the builders of other great French museums.

The Palais des Arts remains the setting for an incredible collection that offers a journey through the history of the Western world from prehistory to the present day.

Listed as a historic monument in 2012, the Amiens museum brings together eclectic collections:

  • archaeological collections: from prehistory to the Gallo-Roman era, including Greek and Egyptian antiquity
  • medieval works: small precious objects and monumental sculptures
  • Fine Arts collections: paintings, sculptures and drawings from the 16th to the 19th century
  • modern and contemporary art: paintings, sculptures, photographs and installations
